Side & Door Glass Replacement Vancouver

A broken door window is loud, messy, and usually not your fault. We vacuum out every pellet we can reach, check the window mechanism, and get the opening sealed — quickly and without fuss.

What’s included

  • Vacuum-out of the door cavity, window channels, seat tracks, and carpet
  • Window regulator and run-channel inspection before the new glass goes in
  • New tempered glass, aligned and tested through its full travel
  • Door vapour-barrier reseal so the door doesn't leak onto your carpet later
  • Practical aftercare advice the moment you call, before the appointment

How it goes, minute by minute

  1. 1

When you call≈10 min on the phone

We walk you through securing the opening and check availability for your exact door and glass tint, so you know the honest timeline before you commit.

  2. 2

Door panel off, full vacuum≈30–45 min

The door card comes off and we vacuum the cavity floor, run channels, seat rails (seats run through their full travel), and carpet edges. This step is most of the job.

  3. 3

    Regulator and channel check≈10 min

Glass pellets jam regulator rollers and cables. We clear the mechanism and confirm it runs true before the new glass is trusted to it.

  4. 4

    Install and align≈30 min

New glass in, clamped and aligned, then tested through full up-and-down travel including one-touch and pinch-protection functions.

  5. 5

    Reseal and reassemble≈15 min

Vapour barrier resealed, door card back on, a final interior vacuum pass.

With glass in stock, the whole job typically runs 90 minutes to two hours — and you can drive immediately, because door glass isn't urethane-bonded, so there's no cure wait. Availability is the honest variable: common models are often same-day or next-day; rarer doors take longer, and we tell you which you're in before you book.

Why the window turned into a thousand pieces

Door glass is tempered: heat-treated so that when it fails, it fails completely, collapsing into small blunt pellets instead of long shards. That's a deliberate safety design, and it works. The trade-off is where those pellets go — down inside the door cavity, along the run channels the glass slides in, into the seat tracks, under the carpet, and into every seam of the seat cushion. Replacing the glass is the easy half of this job.

The vacuum-out matters as much as the glass

Pellets left inside the door rattle for the life of the car and chew at the regulator every time the window moves. Pellets in the seat tracks grind under the rails. So the cleanup is methodical: door card off, cavity vacuumed to bare metal, channels cleared, seats run end to end so the tracks give up what they're hiding, carpet edges lifted. One honest note — a car has deep places, and the odd pellet can surface from under trim weeks later. That's the nature of tempered glass, not a skipped cleanup, and you're welcome to come back for another vacuum pass.

If this was a break-in: before your appointment

Photograph the car before you touch anything, and get a police file number for your records — it takes minutes online. Don't press the window switch, even to check it: the motor will grind pellets straight into the regulator. Wear gloves to pull out valuables, and take garage remotes and anything with your address out of the car. To keep weather out, tape painter's plastic across the opening from the inside, sticking the tape to trim or glass rather than paint. If you have questions about the paperwork side, ask us about coverage when you book — we handle that conversation on-site, and the repair itself doesn't wait on it.

Tint and matching

Factory privacy glass on rear doors is tinted in the glass itself; aftermarket film is a separate layer on clear glass. We tell you which your car has and match it honestly — and if your old window carried film, we'll say so, since new film is a separate step after the glass is in.

Questions we actually get

Can you replace door glass at my home or workplace?

Yes — door glass suits mobile work well because there's no adhesive cure. We still need a dry, safe spot to work with the door open; the Mobile Auto Glass Service page covers what makes a workable location.

Will the new glass match my tint?

If your car has factory privacy glass, the replacement comes tinted to match. If the tint was aftermarket film, the glass arrives clear and we'll point you to re-filming as a follow-up step.

I keep finding little glass pellets. Did the cleanup miss them?

A few stragglers working out of deep trim over the following weeks is normal with tempered glass, not a sign of a rushed job. Come by and we'll gladly run another vacuum pass.

Should I file a police report before the appointment?

Getting a police file number is worth doing for your own records, and it's quick online. It doesn't hold up the repair — we can book you in right away and confirm any coverage questions on-site.

My window was already slow before this. Can you sort the regulator too?

We inspect the regulator on every door-glass job, and a worn one can usually be replaced in the same visit — we'll confirm parts availability for your model when you book.

You drive in. We handle everything else.
